Community Garden to Neighborhood Market Model Kicks Off in Linda Vista
La Tiendita Linda Vista is a small neighborhood grocer and a participant in UC San Diego’s Healthy Retail Program. They have implemented some significant changes to promote access to fresh, local produce. As a part of this effort, they have partnered with the Linda Vista Community Garden at Bayside Community Center, only 2 blocks away from La Tiendita, to source locally grown fresh produce. Produce available at La Tiendita varies weekly, but typically includes fresh herbs and tomatoes this summer.
We would like to thank Stephanie Hernandez, the store manager at La Tiendita, and Amy Zink, the head gardener at Linda Vista Community Garden for all their hard work through the planning and implementation process.
