D. Eastern Kang Sim, MPH, PhD is a staff research assistant in the UC San Diego Division of Academic General Pediatrics, Child Development and Community Health, and a doctoral candidate in the Joint Doctoral Program of Public Health (Global Health track) in Graduate School of Public Health, San Diego State University and School of Medicine, UC San Diego.
Born in South Korea and raised in Mexico, Dr. Kang Sim is a trilingual and tri-cultural researcher-in–training with a strong background in applied statistics and chronic disease epidemiology. Since 2009, he has worked in the division as a statistician working with complex data from the Santiago Longitudinal Study and the Pediatric Health Information System administrative database.
His works have contributed to 6 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 12 conference abstracts. Dr. Kang Sim’s current research interest is on the dual burden of nutritional disorders.
