With more than 15 years of experience working with culturally diverse and underserved communities, Ms. Rashada has demonstrated her dedication to and passion for community wellness. For over 10 years, she has been involved in community-based projects specifically aimed at reducing health disparities and improving the health of children and families in Central and Southeast San Diego. Having grown up in the area, she feels privileged to have the opportunity to work with area residents and community leaders with a shared goal of improving health and well being.
Ms. Rashada has expertise in developing and implementing culturally competent programming for youth, adults, and seniors, as well as diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds including African-American, Latino, Asian Pacific Islander, Samoan, and Somali. Her past experience includes working with Network for a Healthy California on the Families in the Kitchen initiative, a project that took cultural dishes and modified the recipes to be healthier. Ms. Rashada also developed curriculum to teach seniors how to monitor their blood pressure. Recently, Ms. Rashada became a Group Facilitator through the Diabetes Empowerment Education Program (DEEP).
Ms. Rashada studied Communications at California State Dominguez Hills, and in her spare time loves gardening, painting, and being a mom to her active 9 year old son.
