Our Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP) team recently partnered with Pantry of HOPE, operated by Operation HOPE North County. They specialize in supporting their program alumni to rebuild their lives through secure housing resources to regain independence. A Pantry of HOPE client survey revealed a great need for pet food so we connected with the San Diego Humane Society to see if their Community Pet Pantry Program could help.

The San Diego Humane Society has four Community Pet Pantries serving households in need of assistance feeding their four-legged family members. Recipients can pick up bags of wet and dry pet food, as well as the occasional special treats for cats and dogs. Quinn Douglas-Hiley, the Community Pet Pantry Supervisor, invited our team to tour their main location in San Diego. After this tour, the Community Pet Pantry donated pet food and goodies (catnip toys for the kitties, dog treats for the pups) for 25 households serviced by Pantry of HOPE. Pictured below are Mrs. Vicki, Operation HOPE’s pantry volunteer lead, posing with donated resources from SD Human Society and Milo, the unofficial pantry mascot.

Partnerships are the driving force of our community work. We are particularly grateful to the San Diego Humane Society for helping us address unmet needs of our pantry partners. If you need pet food assistance or would like to support these efforts, please check out the SD Humane Society, AniMeals Relief, Rancho Coastal Humane Society, and Senior Special Needs Animal Assistance Project Endeavor.
