Addressing Health Disparities Among Refugee Populations

The AjA Project and UC San Diego Center for Community Health collaborated together to create Overcoming Barriers to Health. Young women between the ages of 12-17 participated in this project. They were also either first or second generation Americans from East African refugees and immigrants.

This project focuses on identifying the health disparities that come with being a child of immigrants or refugee parents. Through the use of photography, participants of this project highlighted the adversities in their communities that center around the access to healthy food choices.
