Be There San Diego and REACH Chula Vista
UC San Diego Center for Community Health is leading evaluation for two Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health grantees in San Diego County. Be There San Diego’s Southeastern San Diego Cardiac Disparities Project strives to strengthen the relationships between Southeastern San Diego residents, via faith-based organizations, and the physicians who serve the community to address cardiovascular disease prevalence.
YMCA Childcare Resource Service (YMCA CRS) and Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP) are collaborating to roll out the Wellness Champion Program among licensed childcare providers in Chula Vista. The designation of Wellness Champion is earned by those licensed childcare providers who meet elevated standards of nutrition and physical activity and work with health educators to put their policy into practice.
UC San Diego Center for Community Health is evaluating the efficacy of both of these programs through key informant interviews and quantitative data collection through surveys. The Center has embarked upon its second year of evaluation and is keen to see the story unfold for these important and essential public health programs.
UC San Diego Center for Community Health is also implementing media and communications for REACH Chula Vista, through the use of media coverage, advertising, social media and events, all intended to strengthen awareness of the projects and their respective goals, for both the public and project partners.
