We envision healthy communities where everyone has equitable opportunity to thrive. Our mission is to advance health equity through community partnerships by transforming public health practice, research, and education. We believe change happens when all three components work to inform and reinforce each other.

The Center for Community Health was established in 1987 at UC San Diego with the guiding principle that authentic community partnerships are fundamental to addressing health disparities and improving health outcomes. This means community members have the wisdom to identify their community’s challenges and strengths and the insight to identify the most appropriate solutions. Our work is more impactful and sustainable when we listen to and work alongside our community partners. More than 35 years later, this principle continues to steer our work.

Our work improves health and wellness in underserved communities in the San Diego/Baja region, across California, and across the nation. Please join us in our mission to cultivate communities where everyone has equitable opportunity to thrive. Your contribution to our Center for Community Health Fund at UC San Diego is a tax-deductible donation and funds our community impact on the ground, incubates new programs and sustains existing efforts, supports our operational capacity as an off-campus community-serving entity, and provides financial assistance to the next generation of community health leaders. Thank you for your partnership and support!
