Our Urban Food Equity team participated in the development of a new Sustainable Food Systems course taught by Dr. Amy Lerner in the Urban Studies and Planning Department. Elle Mari, our Urban Food Equity Director, gave a lecture for the class in April, sharing her team’s work improving access to good food by working with farmers, neighborhood grocery markets, and food pantries. We also worked with Dr. Lerner to coordinate a community learning day for the class in May, hosting students for a garden workday with our long-time community partner Project New Village at the Mt Hope Garden. The students ended their two weeks learning from the Urban Food Equity team and Project New Village by expressing words such as: grateful, fulfilled, alive, energized, and meaningful. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Dr. Lerner and the Urban Studies and Planning Department.
