Nghi Dang (she/her) is a Program Manager working on the Refugee Health Unit team. Previously, Nghi was a Project Manager on our Urban Food Equity team supporting neighborhood grocery markets and residents to improve food access in San Diego County. She currently works with The Afghan Refugee School Impact (ARSI) & Afghan Youth Mentoring (AYM) Program, the UC San Diego Youth Advisory Council (YAC), and is a part of our website administration team.
Nghi received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) with a minor in Global Health at the University of California, San Diego. She also completed her Master in Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Technology and Precision Health and a specialization in Human-Centered Design from UC San Diego. She is a first-generation college graduate and is extremely passionate about health equity, social justice, and health education. Throughout her time at UC San Diego, Nghi pursued opportunities that allowed her to work with and give back to various communities. She served on the Board for the Health and Medical Professions Preparation Program (HMP3) where she was the Chair of two programs that aided underrepresented pre-health students towards their prospective careers in medicine. In addition, Nghi founded the Health Outreach Program (HOP) at UC San Diego which aims to counsel underrepresented minority, first-generation, and/or financially disadvantaged San Diego high school students on careers in healthcare. Prior to joining the Center, Nghi had several years of experience as a lab assistant at the UC San Diego Department of Pharmacology where she studied the effects of nicotine on brain and cardiovascular cells.
Nghi joined the Center for Community Health in 2020.
