On Wednesday March 8, our Advancing Health Literacy (AHL) Program held their first in-person event for grantees and Steering Committee Members. The event served as an opportunity for each of the program’s 12 grantees to meet one another, network over lunch, share project updates, and celebrate their many successes.
Participants included 41 individuals representing local government offices that are represented on the AHL Steering Committee and the 12 grantee organizations funded by the program – ranging from ethnic and community-based organizations to health centers. Individuals came together to share the work they are doing and described the shifts they have made as the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved.
This was a great opportunity to learn about the diverse initiatives being led by our partner organizations and the impact they have on our underserved communities. One of the program’s goals is to improve collaboration across stakeholders and this networking event created a space to identify additional collaborative opportunities, share best practices for community engagement and the provision of COVID-19 and health literacy information.
We’ll plan for future networking events to keep participating organizations involved and continue sharing best practices.
