During the last week in August, our partners participated in raising awareness for Black Breastfeeding Week 2020. We recognize the importance of supporting Black mothers. Black Breastfeeding Week was created eight years ago to address the stark racial disparities among breastfeeding rates as well as the disproportionately high rates of Black infant and maternal mortality. Breastfeeding is essential to the development of infants – especially those born pre-term – and is also a protective factor against asthma, obesity, type 1 diabetes, and more.
