Mid-East Market on El Cajon Blvd in City Heights offers everything from hard to find spices and olive oils from all over the world to roasted Turkish coffee and freshly pressed 100% pure blackseed oil. Some of the local items this market offers include: honey, fresh dates, homemade injera, homemade garlic dips, and dolmas. The most popular products in the store are the local meats. People come from all over San Diego County to Mid-East Market to purchase locally-raised Halal meat including: chicken, lamb, goat, and beef. The livestock is raised at the market owner’s farm at Hani’s Ranch in Poway. It can’t get more local and fresh than that!
In addition to the market, the owners– Hani and his son Al, sell some of their products at farmers’ markets all over San Diego. Look for their famous garlic dip with herb sauce, dolmas, and much more at the Oceanside FM Thursday evenings, Little Italy Mercado Saturday mornings, and Hillcrest FM on Sunday mornings.
