We are excited to share that our Center for Community Health, Refugee Health Unit, has made a significant contribution to the Learning Health Systems (LHS) Journal. This article represents an important step forward in reshaping public health by centering authentic community collaboration. Our article, titled “Community-Led Transformation Principles: Transforming Public Health Learning Systems by Centering Authentic Collaboration with Community-Based Organizations,” explores a crucial paradigm shift in public health approaches.

About the Article

Public health is constantly evolving, with challenges like emerging diseases, health disparities, and environmental threats requiring innovative and adaptive solutions.

Our article delves into how traditional approaches within LHS frameworks often miss a key opportunity: deeply involving community-based organizations (CBOs) that are led and staffed by the communities they serve. These organizations, with their deep-rooted local knowledge and commitment, are essential partners in shaping effective public health strategies that are culturally relevant and sustainable. Our work advocates for a transformative shift—moving away from top-down, institution-led approaches to a more inclusive model that centers authentic collaboration with CBOs.

Why This Matters

The Community-led Transformation Principles outlined in our article emphasize the importance of equitable, community-driven partnerships in public health learning systems. By recognizing CBOs as equal and essential partners, we can collectively move toward a public health paradigm that is inclusive, responsive, and effective in addressing real-world needs.

We hope this publication sparks further dialogue and action toward building more inclusive and collaborative public health frameworks.
