The Public Utilities Department at the City of San Diego is the most recent business to take the Step Well challenge in an effort to encourage their employees to be more active during the workday. The Live Well @ Work team supported the department’s wellness leads in strategically placing elevator and stairwell signage for their 1,500+ employees throughout five stairwells in their two-story administrative offices. Due to the large size of their office space, directional arrows were also posted in many hallways to point employees in the direction of stairwell entrances nearby that may often times get overlooked. The Step Well initiative aims to get more employees moving over the course of an eight hour workday through simple signage prompts reminding staff to take the stairs instead of the elevator.
