Through partnership with food pantries across San Diego County, the Nutrition Pantry Program (NPP) is fortunate to see many sites progress towards offering health-centered, client-based services to their clients, staff, and volunteers. The below blogs highlight some of our team’s favorite work completed or being done by NPP sites.
Check out the latest from our Urban Food Equity team’s neighborhood-based Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project, working with Second Chance Youth Garden and Encanto Elementary School.
Local CSA Partnership Serving Encanto Elementary Families
To sponsor a seasonal share of fresh locally grown produce for a family in Encanto or to sign up to purchase your own CSA share, please visit Second Chance Youth Garden and email Caelli, at [email protected] with any questions. You can also buy directly from Second Chance Youth Garden’s farm stand at 6145 Imperial Ave, San Diego, 92114 every Thursday from 3-5pm to help keep good food available for all. The farm stand also accepts SNAP EBT.
Can’t commit to a CSA share but still want to support? You can make a direct donation to Second Chance Youth Garden aquí by selecting Youth Garden under Gift Designation. Your donation supports eight-weeks of hands-on urban farming, nutrition classes, and workforce training. Youth earn a weekly stipend and gain job readiness skills.
