Gabriel Garcia (They/Them/Elle) is a Project Manager working on the Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI). Gabriel’s role includes managing the Community domain and supporting the Community Council, which informs initiatives within COI.

Gabriel has 5+ years working in several sectors including advocacy, research translation, higher education, and direct public health service work. Most recently they worked as a Program Coordinator with the Graduate School of Public Health at UC Berkeley, In this role they developed and executed leadership development, professional development, and community development for pathway fellowship programs for students hailing from historically marginalized backgrounds. They are an innovator, team-oriented collaborator, and active communicator. Social justice and advancing the needs of marginalized communities are at the center of their work/experiences. Outside of work, you can find them outdoors hiking, kayaking, or running at the beach. They look forward to working alongside the team and community in the collective efforts to improve community and public health.

Gabriel joined the Center for Community Health in 2024.
