Employees are walking well at San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) thanks to the hard work of the SDCOE Employee Wellness Committee and Live Well @ Work team. Live Well @ Work provided wellness consultation and assistance to SDCOE to assess, design, and build two marked walking routes for staff to enjoy on campus. Signs, arrows, and Walk Well wayfinding stencils provide inspiration and act as a friendly reminder to take active breaks throughout the workday. Many SDCOE employees showed excitement for the walking routes before the final signs were hung and the sidewalk paint was dry. One employee explained, “This is a great reminder for all of us to get up and move.” The two Walk Well routes range from a quarter mile to half mile in length, both of which take walkers past SDCOE’s beautiful view of Mission Valley. The walking routes are just one way SDCOE is cultivating a culture of health on their campus with much more to come.
