On the evening of February 25th, community members young and old gathered at the Copley-Price Family YMCA in City Heights to celebrate the launch of Around the World at the Farmers Market: Recipes from San Diego’s African and Middle Eastern Community Cooks. The innovative cookbook was developed by Leah’s Pantry in partnership with the International Rescue Committee in San Diego, the United Women of East Africa Support Team, and the UC San Diego Center for Community Health. The lively celebration included tastings of many recipes from the cookbook and an interactive drum circle.
