Founded in 1970, Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is dedicated to providing caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved persons.
Four FHCSD clinics are participating in the HEALthy 4 You research study (Bario Logan, Chula Vista, El Cajon, and North Park) with the goal to.improve the care they provide to families who have children experiencing obesity and family life stressors. The Healthy Together program is the core FHCSD program dedicated to providing families in need of support and education for developing healthy lifestyles and strategies to manage life stressors, such as discrimination, food insecurity, or neglect.
FHCSD looks forward to gathering a wide range of data to test the impact of the Healthy Together program and to using the data to guide their quality improvement efforts. Specifically, FHCSD is interested in testing whether additional enhancements to the Healthy Together program including promotora support (community health worker), parenting support, or both, is most useful for improving childhood protective factors and childhood obesity.
