The Center is excited to announce the expansion of its Healthy Retail and Worksite Wellness initiatives with funding support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention through the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency. Locally known as the Healthy Works: Prevention Initiative, these funds support the implementation of population-wide approaches to prevent obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke, and reduce health disparities in these areas among adults.

Within the City of San Diego, the Prevention Initiative implements food system, nutrition, and beverage standards in public institutions and worksites, strengthens healthier food access and sales in retail stores and community venues, bolsters community promotion of physical activity, develops community active transportation plans to promote walking and biking, and collaborates with a network of partners and local organizations to build support for healthy lifestyle changes. Prevention Initiative
