Attending the cultural health fair held at the Copley-Price YMCA was a memorable experience. The many cultural dishes served represented the dense diversity of the City Heights community. The fair accomplished its purpose in exposing individuals to healthy ethnic food. All who attended left with a more open-minded perspective on cultural recipes and their connection to healthier lifestyles. After tasting a middle-eastern or African dish, attendants wanted to know more about the concoction of veggies and spices. It’s initiatives like these that break-down the barriers between culture and health. Without the presence of this fair, fewer people would know the satisfying benefits of adding unconventional spices, veggies, and herbs to their meals.
